Qualifications

• Must hold one of ABMS/BRPT/NBRC sleep tech credentials.
• Must be a registered sleep technologist or polysomnographic technologist with SDS option.
• NBRC SDS or RRT-SDS credentials accepted as equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Explain test procedures to patients prior to studies and support psychological needs to obtain quality results.
• Record and score sleep/wake results.
• Collaborate with physicians, informing them of patient status during procedures.
• Adapt test methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal patient results.
• Mentor Polysomnographic Technicians and assist with onboarding and training.
• Complete documentation and billing as required.

Education

Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)

Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS) or (RRT-SDS) by NBRC
