Job summary

Allina Health Sleep Diagnostic Center in Shakopee, MN seeks a Sleep Technologist to deliver comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under physician supervision.

You will conduct polysomnographic testing, scoring, and follow-up, educate patients on sleep procedures, and manage records and billing per lab protocol. This 48-hour biweekly schedule is a 0.6 FTE with a permanent night shift.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical training in polysomnography with license/BRPT standards.
  • 0–2 years polysomnography experience.
  • 0–2 years knowledge of PAP devices.
  • 0–2 years of assessing patients with critical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Polysomnographic testing, scoring and follow up.
  • Educate patient on sleep disorders, testing procedures and devices.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and billing procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Bring your expertise in sleep medicine to our team by delivering comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. In this role, you will play a vital part in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and educating patients with suspected sleep conditions under the guidance of a physician-helping patients achieve better sleep and improved overall health.

  • .6 FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period)
  • 12 hour permanent night shift

Job Description:

Conducts the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders in patients. Responsible for assessments, diagnosis, treatments and education of patients with suspected sleep disorders under the direction of a physician.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Polysomnographic testing, scoring and follow up
    • Applies electrodes, monitors accordingly, ensures artifact free recordings and documents values for any clinical event during testing.
    • Implements and titrates appropriate therapy per lab protocol.
    • Scores Polysomnograms, downloads/stores data and generates reports prior to follow up appointment.
  • Patient education and record management
    • Educate patient on sleep disorders, testing procedures and operation of sleep disorder devices.
    • Verify medical order/protocol, complete all technical paperwork.
    • Complete appropriate paperwork and billing procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or Technical Training in a polysomnography program with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility or, equivalent experience with documented proficiency in all required competencies of a Polysomnographic Technologist or, meets Board Registered Polysomnographic (BRPT) standards for a sleep technologist
  • 0 to 2 years of polysomnography experience
  • 0 to 2 years of strong knowledge of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) devices
  • 0 to 2 years of assessing patients, apply critical thinking and determine appropriate interventions
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below
    Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
    Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
    Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - Board Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BPRT) or credentialed with Sleep Disorders Specialty from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) upon hire required
  • Current license in allied health profession preferred if applicable

Pay Range

Pay Range: $33.20 to $47.57 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
