Job summary

Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, VT is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist to operate sleep study equipment and contribute to diagnostic testing. You will help monitor and score studies and prepare reports for physicians, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

The role requires a high school diploma with an associate degree preferred, and CPSGT/BRPT/A-STEP certifications, plus BLS. Night shift, full-time, 7pm-7am, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in Health Sciences preferred.
  • 2 years prior experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Experience at an AASM accredited Sleep Center preferred.
  • CPSGT certification to take registry within 3 years; BRPT/A-STEP completion advised.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Polysomnographic equipment for sleep studies.
  • Monitor parameters for scoring and reporting Polysomnographic data.
  • Prepare and complete polysomnographic reports for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Institute and maintain life-saving measures as needed.

  • Schedule - Shift - Hours Full-time - 12 hour night shift - 7pm-7am

Under general supervision of the Director or Medical Director, the Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for setting up and operating Polysomnographic equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep related disorders. In addition, the technologist must have a thorough understanding of all monitored parameters which are utilized in the computer scoring and preparation of Polysomnographic reports. Ability to institute and maintain life saving measures is required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree in the Health Sciences preferred.
  • 2 years prior experience employed as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Experience at an AASM accredited Sleep Center preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • CPSGT- Certified Polysomnographic Technologist to take registry exam within 3 years, before the certification expires*
  • Completion of all 14 Modules of Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)/ AASM A-Step Program to be able to take the Registry for Polysomnography.
  • Maintains continuing education units as required by PSGT Certification.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association.

*RRT-SDS credentials maybe be substituted for CPSGT Certification

  • Demonstrated safe, knowledgeable practice skills at all times based on theory and consistent with Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
