A leading health organization is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing patient care during sleep studies, performing EEGs, and maintaining equipment. This full-time night shift position requires critical thinking skills, licensure, and a commitment to exceptional patient service.
Job Description - Polysomnographic Technologist (7457-12733)

Provides care for patients undergoing sleep studies and sleep disorder treatment. Performs EEGs as assigned.
Reports to: Director - Cardiac-Pulmonary & Neurodiagnostics
Prepares for the arrival of the patient by setting up and preparing the equipment for the ordered test.
Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
Performs testing and any additional testing required for sleep disorder that is noted.
Scores, interprets, and reports results of sleep studies. Educates patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources.
Prepares, calibrates, repairs, and maintains equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs and replacements.
Maintains proper supplies to care for patients.
Performs EEGs, as directed, utilizing proper techniques with minimal repeats.
Assures that patients are scheduled properly and properly instructed of all requirements pertaining to the test.
Assists in maintaining the laboratory and equipment.
Assists in training of other personnel on performing EEGs.
Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED - Required
Preferred Education: Graduate of a Program in Discipline
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire.
Licenses: Effective 7/1/2010, State of Tennessee Polysomnography licensure - Required when performing Sleep Studies. Must obtain within 6 months of employment. New Hires pending State Polysomnography Licensure can only complete EEG Tech functions.
