Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center's Children's of Mississippi division is seeking a Polysomnographic Tech I to support sleep studies at the Main Campus Jackson. This full-time/part-time role operates under the supervision of a senior tech, performing tests and preparing data for scoring.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with related patient care exposure, and offers progression toward polysomnography certification as you gain experience in a dynamic sleep center

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 6 months of direct patient care experience or enrollment/completion in Polysomnography program.
• Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: NA

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of polysomnographic exams on sleeping patients to detect common sleep disorders.
• Follows procedural protocols to ensure data collection and documents procedures for scoring and interpretation.
• Verifies medical order and protocol; completes and verifies documentation; orients patient to the sleep center.
• Prepares and calibrates equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Verifies data integrity and instructs patients on completing questionnaires.
• Maintains equipment care and infection control standards.
• Performs sleep studies under supervision of a senior tech and scores studies as recorded.
• Learns toward obtaining certification/registry in polysomnography.
• Duties may be updated by management as needed.
