Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center's Children’s of Mississippi sleep center is seeking a Polysomnographic Tech I to develop competency in polysomnography, perform sleep studies under supervision, and assist with scoring during recording. The role supports patient care and equipment setup in a busy clinical setting.

The candidate will have a High School Diploma/GED with 6 months direct patient care experience or be enrolled in an accredited Polysomnography program, and will work full-time

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 6 months of direct patient care experience or current enrollment or completion in an accredited educational program in Polysomnography.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of polysomnographic exams on sleeping patients to detect common sleep disorders.
• Follows procedural protocols to ensure data collection and documents procedures and data for scoring/interpretation.
• Verifies medical orders and protocols; completes documentation; orients patients to the sleep center.
• Prepares and calibrates equipment to ensure proper functioning and makes adjustments as needed.
• Verifies data integrity and instructs patients on completing questionnaires.
• Performs equipment care and maintenance and adheres to safety and infection control standards.
• Scores sleep studies under supervision and continues learning toward certification.
