Tangent Materials is seeking a Polymer Testing Engineer to support accelerated and natural weathering programs, thermal cycling, and UV exposure of thermoplastic composites. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and product development to evaluate materials, formulations, and processes and provide technical recommendations based on experimental data.

Formación

• Knowledge of thermoplastic polymers and/or polymer composites.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate material and product performance issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsabilidades

• Design, coordinate, and conduct accelerated weathering programs (xenon arc, Q-Sun, thermal cycling).
• Evaluate appearance and property retention after exposure, including mechanical properties like flexural and tensile strength.
• Plan and conduct thermal cycling, freeze-thaw, heat aging, and moisture exposure testing and assess dimensional stability.
• Perform thermal analysis (DSC, TGA) and related techniques to characterize materials.
• Conduct rheological characterization to evaluate resin and compound quality and processing.
• Perform microscopy and spectroscopy analyses to examine morphology and degradation.
• Develop test methods and exposure protocols to reflect real-world conditions and correlate with outdoor data.
• Apply relevant ASTM, ISO, and industry standards while understanding limitations.
• Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations of field returns and lab failures.
