Job summary

Tangent Materials is seeking a Composite Testing Engineer to support development, testing, and characterization of thermoplastic composites and products. You will design and conduct lab tests, analyze mechanical performance, and correlate lab results with product performance, working with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and product teams.

You will apply ASTM/ISO standards, develop testing methods, interpret results, and provide technical recommendations based on data from coupon- to full-scale

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
• Experience with tensile, compression, flexural, shear and fatigue testing.
• Familiarity with ASTM/ISO testing standards.
• Ability to design and execute test programs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and conduct laboratory testing and characterization of thermoplastic composites and products.
• Evaluate short-term and long-term mechanical performance including strength, stiffness, fatigue, creep, durability.
• Perform strain and deformation measurements using strain gauges and extensometers.
• Analyze load-displacement, stress-strain, and deformation data to understand material behavior.
• Develop and modify test methods to reflect actual product loading and conditions.
• Apply relevant ASTM/ISO standards while understanding their applicability.
