Job summary

Trinseo PLC in Exton, PA, is seeking a Polymer Processing Technologist – Extrusion & Injection Molding to support polymer formulation, processing, testing, and data generation across multiple projects in the Global Innovation Center-Exton.

The role requires expertise in polymer processing equipment and the ability to work independently, with collaboration across scientists and engineers. Strong analytical and data-handling skills are essential for timely project deliverables.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma with 5+ years of experience in polymer R&D laboratories or a BS/BA with 2+ years polymer processing experience.
• Demonstrated expertise on injection molding, extrusion, and other polymer processing equipment.
• Experience with DSC, TGA, TMA, FTIR, GPC lab equipment is preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in sample preparation and mechanical testing.
• Demonstrated expertise in generating accurate and reliable data in a timely manner.
• Proficient with computer software applications, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with polymer synthesis and wet chemistry is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, independent problem solver

Responsibilities

• Formulation: prepare polymer formulations for processing
• Processing: extrude, injection mold, and other molding operations on polymers
• Testing: prepare specimens and perform mechanical tests (notched Izod, tensile, impact, melt flow rate) and measure optics, color, gloss, and thermal properties
• Data: document observations and results, analyze data, write summaries
• Equipment: schedule maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, train others
• Support EH&S policies and site safety requirements
• Provide technical support for routine compounding, molding, and testing of thermoplastic systems
