Job summary

Schlumberger is seeking a Materials/Mechanical Engineer for its Sustaining team in the United States. The role focuses on developing and evaluating polymeric materials and processes, and advising product groups on material-related issues.

You will work on material selection, rheology, and processing, supporting production centers and field locations, with opportunities to lead testing and produce technical reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree: BS/MS/PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Polymer Engineering.
• 4–6 years of experience in materials science with emphasis on polymers.
• Solid understanding of polymeric materials and processing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Apply seasoned technical knowledge to projects on materials and processing.
• Provide material consultation for material selection, data, and failure avoidance.
• Develop polymer compounds via mixing and modify rheology and properties for product needs.
• Support polymer manufacturing processes at production centers.
• Troubleshoot polymer manufacturing parameters for extrusion, molding, and transfer/injection processes.
• Perform failure analysis and data-driven improvements for materials and processing.
• Design and lead validation testing to qualify materials for applications.
• Write material and process specifications and standards.
• Provide consultation to engineers, field locations, and customers.
• Prepare procurement documentation and guide material sourcing and supplier interactions.
• Produce technical reports and deliver presentations.
