Job summary

Bal Seal Engineering (BSE) is seeking a Material Scientist to develop new seal polymers and support sales and production with material analysis and testing. You will lead material evaluation projects, work with SEM/DSC/TGA/FTIR equipment, and interface with engineering and other stakeholders to ensure material requirements are met.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Material Science or related field, and at least 4 years of experience in material science and engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Material Science or related Engineering field.
• Minimum 4 years in Material Science and Engineering.
• Experience with Thermoplastic polymers PTFE, PEEK, UHMWPE and related fluoropolymers.

Responsibilities

• Material analysis using SEM, DSC, TGA, FTIR and other equipment.
• Evaluate and select spring energizer materials for aerospace quality.
• Lead and execute complex material evaluation and root-cause analyses.
• Develop and execute test plans with priorities and due dates.
• Prepare documentation verifying testing results and reports.
