Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Chemistry and Materials Science Technologist/Senior Technologist to support polymer characterization work in the Plastics Group. You’ll prepare and test materials, operate characterization equipment, and maintain documentation in a collaborative lab setting.

The role involves on-site work with potential overtime and travel, and responsibilities scale with level based on knowledge and experience. DOE safety and security requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemistry, materials science and engineering or related field.
• Experience with chemistry/materials science tools and equipment.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical analysis and processing support for material sampling, testing, and characterization.
• Operate and maintain materials characterization equipment (thermal, rheological, mechanical).
• Track calibrations and support maintenance of lab equipment.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, notebooks, data analyses, and reports.
• Collaborate with customers and team to meet schedules and communicate results.
