Job description

This position requires extensive knowledge of all stages of polishing required to produce fine jewelry. The candidate must be well versed in polishing precious metals (Platinum and Gold) and skilled in polishing a wide variety of products, fabricated both by hand and with cast component parts. Must have extensive knowledge of working with high value stones during the polishing process. This candidate must have a strong working knowledge of the jewelry manufacturing environment. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well with others. Attention to detail at all times is a must.

Key Duties Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of buffing, lapping, and trimming of both handmade and cast precious metal component parts (Platinum and Gold).
  • Extensive knowledge of handling high value stones (colored stones and diamonds).
  • Extensive knowledge of plating in both platinum and gold.
  • Extensive knowledge in preparing castings for assembly and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to polish all products manufactured in the workshop: necklaces, earrings, fashion rings, solitaire rings, bracelets.
  • Ability to spot variations in the metal condition (porosity) and construction issues such as cracks, bad or open connections, open solder joints.
  • Attention to detail - polishing is our first line of defense against construction issues, setting, and metal finishing issues.
