Composite Fitter / Trimmer / Polisher Trainee
Pay / Salaries
Salary: £7.20 – 9.00 per hour (Depending upon experience, and negotiable)
Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00am – 5.30pm (30 minutes lunch and am/pm short breaks)
Benefits: Holiday: 28 Days

Scope:
Reverie Limited are a thriving composites business with a world-renowned brand in motorsport and the auto aftermarket for their top quality, niche, well-engineered products. Reverie also carries out ‘sub contract’ or ‘build to print’ composite design, development and manufacturing for automotive Tier 1 / OEM and blue chip clients in many market sectors. Established in 2000, with year on year growth and recent investments in new machinery, facilities and staff to support, we now seek a Trainee Fitter/Polisher to support our Team.

Purpose:
To trim composite mouldings to scribe lines, correctly fit/bond all relevant fixings and finish and/or polish complex composite components to a high standard, prior to inspection.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  1. To trim and fit composite components/moulds as specified by customer drawings;
  2. To ensure components/moulds are trimmed and fitted in a timely manner and to meet deadlines;
  3. Excellent understanding and interpretation of complex technical drawings;
  4. Able to highlight issues relating to the trimming and fitting procedure;
  5. The skill and ability to trim various complex components and moulds;
  6. To bond and fit complex or various standards of components with relevant inserts/fixings;
  7. To finish/polish components and moulds to the required standards;
  8. Checking and using correct issue documentation for assigned tasks;
  9. Maintaining and providing own hand tools required as per Reverie equipment lists;
  10. Working to company procedures and standards;
  11. Working to deadlines and operational target times;
  12. Responsible for maintaining service and correct location of production tools and jigs;
  13. Ensure immediate feedback is provided to direct manager where customer satisfaction or Health & Safety may be threatened;
  14. Health & Safety of himself and others affected by his work;
  15. Cleanliness of the trim room, fitting room and unit 5 general areas;
  16. Working with the composite engineer on trim and fitting manuals or developing new processes.

Personal Qualities and Experience:
Will be trained in:

  • Trimming & Fitting air tools & usage;
  • Trimming of GRP or composite components/moulds;
  • Inserts and Fixings;
  • Fitting of components, use of jigs etc;
  • Bonding Procedure & Adhesives;
  • Hole Tapping;
  • Keensert Installation;
  • Surface Preparation including vapour blasting, shot blasting and abrasive sanding;
  • Wet Laminate Repair Procedures;
  • New Mould Preparation / Mould repair;
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Skills / Knowledge required:
Practical experience may be from a car body paint repair shop or college city and guilds tech/body repair course. Ability to read and write/understand English. Positive hard working ability and responsible/positive attitude to learn. Basic hand and eye skills and co-ordination. Good communication/listening skills. Accuracy with record keeping. Good time management and personal organisational skills. The ability to recognise when a problem should be escalated to management. A flexible approach to extended hours during busy periods.
