Job summary

Tier One Technologies is seeking a Policy Specialist for our US Government client. The role is remote contract-to-hire and will originate in Falls Church, VA.

Responsibilities include researching, drafting, and analyzing policies, conducting gap analyses, and collaborating with security engineers, compliance officers, and business managers to ensure policies are technically sound and practically applicable. Applicants must be eligible for a sensitive clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in public policy, political science, law, economics, or related field.
• 8+ years of IT related professional experience.
• 2+ years of technical writing experience in policy analysis or related role.
• Familiarity with AI tools and capabilities for technical writing.
• Good working knowledge of NIST CSF and CIS Controls and other security frameworks.
• Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear language.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
• Strong research and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Research, draft, and analyze policies aligning with stakeholder needs and standards.
• Conduct gap analyses against frameworks to recommend policy enhancements.
• Collaborate with security engineers, compliance officers, and managers to ensure policies are sound and practical.
• Translate technical security concepts into clear documentation for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to update CISO policies for annual lifecycle updates.
• Review and contribute to policies for groups outside of CISO.
