Job description

Job Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director of the Office of Student Research, the Fair Testing Housing Coordinator supports project management, research activities and administrative activities related to the "Fair Housing Compliance Testing" project. Project management duties include assigning and tracking tester activities, and coordinating with project collaborators. Research activities include training and collecting data from Fair Housing Testers and supervising student research fellows in analytical tasks. Administrative duties include documenting tester hours, approving payments, supervising student research hours and developing and coordinating workshops and public presentations. This is a one-year, full-time position, with the option for a second year. The position is contingent on contract funding. This project will also be carried out with staff at the John Marshall Law School Fair Housing Clinic.

Working Hours:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Bachelor's degree in social science, social work, urban planning or similar. Qualitative data collection and analytical experience. Familiarity with Fair Housing Law, Housing Choice Voucher programs and common discriminatory practices. Familiarity with CHA policy/ Chicago housing practice. Project management. Supervisory experience. Knowledge of Fair Housing. Proven communication and interpersonal skills. Models, encourages and facilitates open and effective communication. Interacts effectively with people from different cultures, educational levels and backgrounds; creates an environment of understanding and acceptance. Strategic thinker who can also implement solutions. Able to utilize creative problem-solving skills to gain cooperation of internal and external partners. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A positive and professional demeanor is a must. Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative and qualitative software packages as well as Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting or coordinating fair housing testing. MA in Social science, Law (housing), related fields, or equivalent experience. GIS analysis.
