Job summary

The U.S. Department of Labor, Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS), Office of Research and Policy (ORP), seeks a GS-12 Policy Analyst to coordinate program objectives and legislative initiatives to advance VETS goals.

The position is inside the bargaining unit and based in the Washington, DC area. Responsibilities include developing new programs, reviewing statutes and executive orders, and advising leadership on interpretations and policy applications.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience includes analyzing legislation, policies, and executive orders
• Experience developing and formulating policies
• Experience conducting research and preparing policy recommendations and briefings

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and/or develop new program objectives and legislative/regulatory initiatives to achieve VETS goals
• Develop new programs or policies to assist national and regional offices
• Review and analyze statutes and executive orders to guide implementation and develop regulations
• Develop policy recommendations based on research, administration, and priorities and explain interpretations to leadership
