Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia (OAG) is seeking an Attorney Advisor to serve as the Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs, located in Washington, DC. The role leads policy development, coordinates with OAG divisions, and reviews legislation to ensure alignment with policy priorities.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have at least 7 years of relevant experience and possess strong legal policy, legislative, and analytical skills.
• One year of specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Experience handling complex policy and legislative matters is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop policy priorities with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Hone policy positions with OAG divisions and review legislation accordingly.
• Advise the Council on potential legislation and consult with District agencies.
• Serve as the main point of contact for OAG with the Council and staff.
• Draft and review all OAG testimony to align with legal and policy positions.
