Job summary

The DC Government Office of the Attorney General seeks a Supervisory Attorney Advisor to serve as Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs in Washington, DC. The role reports to the Chief of Staff and leads the Policy and Legislative Affairs section, shaping positions on a broad range of legal issues affecting the District.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of relevant legal policy, legislative, and analytical experience.
• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience handling complex policy matters.

Responsibilities

• Develop policy priorities with Senior Leadership and hone policy positions.
• Develop and review legislation to align with policy positions.
• Advise the Council on potential legislation and engage with District agencies.
• Build and maintain relationships with Council members and staff.
• Draft and review all OAG testimony; ensure consistency with policy positions.
