Job summary

Seattle Legislative Department seeks a Legislative Assistant – Policy Lead for Councilmember Maritza Rivera (District 4), LEN Committee. Track legislation, manage the committee's portfolio, and conduct policy research across safety, education, housing and transportation; collaborate with staff, stakeholders, and residents.

This at-will role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least three years in policy research or development; strong writing, presentation, and data analysis skills; and the

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in public administration, political science, law, or other relevant field; combinations evaluated for comparability.
• At least three years of experience in policy, legal, economic, or organizational research.

Responsibilities

• Track legislation coming from all Council and select committees.
• Manage LEN Committee presentations, agendas, minutes, and hybrid meetings.
• Compile, organize, analyze, and summarize data; present findings clearly.
• Research policy issues across public safety, education, housing, land use, and immigrant/refugee affairs.
• Stay informed about City Council policy issues and District 4 developments.
• Lead policy work in education, immigrant/refugee affairs, neighborhoods, and libraries.
• Collect information from local, regional, state, and federal staff as needed.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Perform other related duties as required.
