Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Program Specialist V to support the HSCS Strategy, Policy and Communications team in Austin. The role involves cross-division collaboration, project coordination and development of information systems, policy and communications materials.

The position emphasizes open records management, data analysis, and content creation for websites, SharePoint, and public information.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in journalism or communications is preferred.
• Excellent written communication as observed by detail and completeness of information on the state application.
• Experience working with open records requests is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to Open Records Requests by gathering, organizing and coordinating with the open records office.
• Keeps HSCS websites and SharePoint updated with timely, accurate information and documents.
• Writes copy for blogs, ads, web stories, or scripts after researching topics and sources.
• Assists in coordinating stakeholder relations materials such as flyers, videos, presentations, ensuring timeliness and accessibility.
• Coordinates rule and policy projects, drafts paperwork, and liaises with legal and policy staff.
• Collects and analyzes data from across HHSC and presents findings in reports or memos.
• Develops SOPs across the division and documents them for easy access.
