Job summary

OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE in New York City is seeking a Data Insights Specialist who translates complex data into clear, actionable insights shaping public health and safety policy for justice-involved communities. You will build dashboards, craft data stories, and support trainings and external messaging.

The role requires strong analytics, programming (R/SQL/Python), and experience communicating with varied audiences. Residency in NYC is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Associate degree with two years of relevant experience.
• Four-year high school diploma with four years of relevant experience.
• Satisfactory combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a high volume of data requests from internal teams and leadership, translating questions into actionable insights.
• Design and build dashboards using leading measures to monitor opportunities and issues across the justice system.
• Craft data stories and visualizations to inform policy and engage diverse audiences.
• Support interagency coordination and policy delivery on justice-related topics.
• Develop meaningful indicators and embed them into integrated dashboards for ongoing analysis.
• Leverage existing research to support crime reduction and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with program staff and communities to deliver evidence-based solutions.
• Produce insights for publication or internal use as appropriate.
