Job summary

Municipal Association of South Carolina seeks a Research and Legislative Analyst to gather, analyze, and interpret data to influence public policy affecting municipalities. You will assess how current issues and regulations impact SC cities and towns, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

The role reports to the director of advocacy and involves training municipal staff, attending meetings, and generating policy reports to inform lawmakers and local officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in a related field with preferred advanced degree.
• Strong Excel and database skills for research and reporting.
• Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develops and promotes the Association's research activities, including studies and reports.
• Analyzes municipal governance topics and legislative issues with data.
• Selects appropriate software for data analysis and presentation.
• Conducts polling activities and analyzes poll results for municipal issues.
• Maintains databases and summarizes conclusions for legislators and staff.
