Job summary

SMBC Group’s Data Management Department Americas drives data governance initiatives across group companies. The Data Governance Policy Compliance VP role focuses on implementing the Enterprise Data Governance Framework with policy adoption, controls, and regulatory response.

Reporting to the Head of Data Governance, the role coordinates with functional data officers and stakeholders globally, supporting data transformation projects and ensuring compliance across regions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Controls, Policy Compliance or related area (Banking/Finance preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support enterprise Data Governance strategy rollout, including policy adoption plans and training.
• Develop enterprise-wide Data Governance guiding principles, standards, and processes.
• Identify improvement opportunities to streamline Data Governance programs.
• Interface with Data Officers and stakeholders to ensure policy compliance across businesses.
• Assist in remediation of Audit/Regulatory feedback related to Data Governance.
• Support Data Transformation projects as Subject Matter Expert in Data Governance.
