Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Policy Analyst to serve within the Office of State Plan Administration in the Bureau of Policy. The role will monitor federal and state actions and produce analyses, briefs, and provider communications, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will analyze data, evaluate policies, and contribute to cost analyses and fiscal impact proposals for Medicaid services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant health-care related experience.
• Master's degree preferred (MPH/MPA/MHA or equivalent) may be considered.
• Experience with Medicaid/Medicare claims billing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze federal and state policy actions, including regulations, legislation, executive and agency actions, and legal cases.
• Produce written analyses, policy briefs, fact sheets, comment on proposed regulations, and update provider manuals and fee schedules.
• Review utilization trends and analyze data to inform cost analysis and fiscal impact proposals for Medicaid services.
• Serve as the agency's subject matter expert; conduct research, develop policy briefs, provider bulletins and state plan amendments; work with stakeholders.
• Lead or support projects; engage in cross-functional collaboration and process improvement.
