Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Lead Associate, Global Development Policy to support US foreign assistance policy and congressional relations from our Washington, DC hybrid office. You will analyze policy and advise on funding strategies, building relationships with congressional offices and coalitions to advance priority humanitarian and development goals.

The role reports to the Managing Director, Global Development Policy and requires strong writing, research, and project management skills,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a Congressional office, NGO, think-tank, or the Executive Branch focused on congressional relations and/or advocacy.
• Strong understanding of the Congressional appropriations process on Capitol Hill.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with good time management and problem-solving skills.
• MS Office proficiency and strong policy writing and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Advocate to Congress and administration on funding for humanitarian and development aid.
• Analyze policy and legislative developments related to budget and appropriations.
• Represent Save the Children’s policy priorities in coalitions and meetings with lawmakers.
• Develop materials for advocacy, including fact sheets and statements for senior staff.
• Coordinate with Domestic Policy Team on appropriations advocacy across priority accounts.
• Plan and execute advocacy events as needed.
• Contribute to general knowledge of political developments and the broader congressional relations strategy.
