Job summary

The City of Petaluma Police Department is seeking a qualified Police Training Coordinator to lead, coordinate, and manage the training program for all sworn and non-sworn personnel. This role ensures POST compliance and oversees specialized training needs, including the LEFTA METR platform usage and related procedures.

The position requires a background check, security clearances, and experience with police training standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, management, or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible training experience.
• Knowledge of POST training requirements and procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement the Police Department Training Program for sworn and non-sworn staff.
• Develop and maintain training plans and budgets; track expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with POST training requirements and departmental policies.
• Schedule training events, conferences, and travel; maintain training calendars.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports and audits for program effectiveness.
• Develop networks with training providers and partner agencies; support staff development.
