Job summary

City of Murphy is seeking a Police Sergeant to supervise patrol personnel, coordinate resources, and ensure policy compliance. This role reports to the Operations Lieutenant and leads through coaching and mentoring during routine and emergency incidents.

The position requires a strong track record in leadership, a Texas Peace Officer license, and the ability to work rotating day/night shifts, including weekends. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience required.
• Valid TX Peace Officer license or equivalent is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned beat to promote public safety and quality of life.
• Provide supervision, training, and direction to assigned personnel.
• Conduct shift briefings and communicate directives, policies, and expectations.
• Review crime data and enforce strategies; supervise equipment and uniform readiness.
• Perform essential duties of a Police Officer when needed and mentor staff.
