The City of Burbank is hiring for Police Officer/Recruit roles. Candidates will attend a POST-certified academy and perform duties as sworn officers post-graduation. This position requires specific qualifications including high school graduation, physical fitness, and a valid driver's license.

PLEASE NOTE: Any candidate who withdraws, fails to appear, or fails at any part of the testing process will be subject to a 90-day waiting period before re-application.
IMPORTANT: All candidates must complete the department application and the FrontLine National written exam through the National Testing Network at www.NationalTestingNetwork.com before NOON on Friday, June 13, 2025. To ensure we receive your results, you must select the City of Burbank to share your results with our agency.
The City of Burbank also requires the candidate's PHQ. You can access and complete the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by the closing date, or you may not be considered further in the process.
The written exam pass point will be released after all applicants have been notified of their results.
Note: Candidates may be required to reside within one hour of the reporting location. This requirement will be imposed six months after the initial probationary period for affected employees.
Salary: Current salary is $7,498.96/month. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, the salary increases to $8,332.18 - $10,405.76/month, with an annual range of $99,986.12 - $124,869.16.
Additional pay:
Job Description: Under direction, attend a POST-certified recruit academy, and upon graduation, be sworn in as a full-duty Police Officer. Perform related duties as required.
Training: Attend a POST-certified academy covering laws, procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid, and physical fitness; drive on City business.
Employment Standards: Ability to learn laws and procedures, analyze problems, remain calm under stress, undergo physical conditioning, and establish effective working relationships.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Age & Physical Conditions: Must be at least 20 years old to apply and 21 upon graduation from the academy. Must be in good physical condition as determined by the City Medical Examiner.
License & Certificates: Valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent at the time of appointment.
