Job summary

The Titusville Police Department recruits for a Police Officer Recruit position to attend the Florida Police Officer Academy and earn basic policing skills and physical fitness. This entry-level, non-sworn class provides classroom-based training and progression toward sworn status based on performance and openings.

Recruits will perform non-sworn Community Service Officer duties, prepare detailed reports, handle public inquiries, and assist in case reviews while rotating through essential police

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework in police science/criminal justice desirable.
• Must be US citizen or meet citizenship requirements; 19+ age at hire; valid Florida driver's license.
• Must reside within 50 miles of Titusville; able to pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Attend the Police Officer Academy to obtain basic skills and fitness for officer duties.
• Perform non-sworn Community Service Officer duties, including crime classification and determining if a crime occurred.
• Prepare police offense and incident reports from calls
• Participate in case reviews and prepare administrative reports.
• Provide law enforcement information to the public and receive incoming calls.
• Operate phones, computers, and testify in court.
• Direct traffic and transport police vehicles for servicing.
• Serve as scribe/runner for command staff during major incidents.
• Other duties as required to meet business needs.
