Job summary

Springfield Police Department is seeking Police Officers to enforce laws, respond to emergencies, and provide community policing. Starting compensation is $38.26 per hour with an additional 5% for a bachelor’s degree and 5% for Spanish or another language incentive, plus other incentives.

The full-time, non-exempt position includes a comprehensive benefits package: health/wellness center access, a robust medical plan, paid leave, gym membership, and participation in Oregon PERS retirement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• US citizen or eligible for citizenship within 18 months.
• 21+ years old by appointment.
• Valid Oregon Driver's License by appointment.
• No felony convictions.
• Refrain from tobacco while on duty.
• Ability to pass background investigation.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to meet physical, medical and psychological requirements per ORS 259-008-0010.

Responsibilities

• Enforce state and local laws and municipal codes.
• Respond to emergencies to protect life and property.
• Provide preventative community policing.
• Represent the department and community with professionalism.
