Qualifications

• Education and experience: High school diploma, some experience in police work desirable, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the required knowledge and abilities.
• Must meet state certifications and pass background investigations.
• Must possess a valid driver license and meet POST-like requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets by vehicle or foot to observe traffic violations, safety hazards, and suspicious or criminal activity.
• Investigate accident scenes and respond to calls for service regarding theft, domestic disputes, vandalism, violent crime, and other incidents.
• Issue citations for traffic violations and serve warrants or make arrests as needed.
• Investigate crimes and maintain records of warrants and investigations; testify in court.
• Direct traffic, assist motorists, and operate law enforcement equipment; participate in training.
