Job summary

Qualifications

• BLS certification within six months of hire
• Non-violent crisis intervention training within six months of hire
• Firearms qualification with bi-annual refresh
• Valid Ohio driver’s license
• Minimum age 21 and fitness for duty per applicable law

Responsibilities & Requirements

• The Police Officer ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by providing law enforcement services, responding to emergencies, and enforcing hospital policies and applicable laws.
• This role supports patient care and operational reliability through proactive patrols, incident response, and community engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy (OPOTA).
• Valid Ohio driver's license.
• Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within six months of hire).
• Non-violent crisis intervention training (required within six months of hire).
• Firearms qualification (must pass bi-annual qualifications).
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a physical examination certifying fitness for duty, per Ohio Revised Code § 124.41.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Prior law enforcement or healthcare security experience.
