Hawaii Police Department seeks a Police Officer I (Recruit) trainee in Hilo to learn policing principles, procedures, and field techniques. The role includes attending police classes, on-the-job training, and performing varied duties under supervision to develop core law enforcement skills.

Candidates must meet age, education, and licensure requirements and may be eligible for the $1,000 Recruitment Incentive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Must be 20 years old at filing and 21 by graduation from the Police Academy.
• Valid Hawai?i Driver's License (Class 3) at filing.
• Must be qualified to carry firearms per state/federal laws.

Responsabilités

• Patrol assigned beats and assist in traffic enforcement.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and observe crime scenes.
• Assist in arrests, interviews of witnesses and suspects.
• Prepare clear, concise reports of activities and incidents.
• Testify in court when required.
