Job summary

Gilroy Police Department is seeking an Academy Graduate Police Officer to patrol, investigate incidents, and support community safety in Gilroy, CA. The position requires completion of a POST-approved basic academy and adherence to policing standards.

Applicants must be at least 21, pass a physical agility test, meet POST medical requirements, and pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen. A California driver’s license is required and bilingual (English/Spanish) is desirable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a POST-approved basic academy.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a physical agility test.
• Meet POST medical standards for a peace officer.
• Pass POST background investigation and drug test.
• Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Patrol an assigned beat to prevent crime and enforce laws.
• Investigate and report on incidents and accidents.
• Make arrests and take appropriate law enforcement actions.
• Respond to pages, radio, and telephone dispatches.
• Provide traffic control at emergencies and during patrols.
• Intervene in disputes to protect the public and appear in court.
