Job summary

The City of Edina Police Department is seeking Police Officers to provide public safety services in accordance with laws and city codes. Candidates passing the application review will be invited by email to first round interviews; date to be determined.

The position involves enforcing laws, conducting interviews, reporting, patrols, traffic control, and public interaction. Applicants must have a two-year degree and POST licensure by 2026, plus basic first aid and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree and POST licensure or eligible by December 31, 2026.
• Basic first aid/life saving techniques.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Enforces laws and City codes, and provides public safety through observation, investigation, reporting and corrective action.
• Conducts interviews, interrogations, negotiations and related investigative functions.
• Interacts with residents and the public by in person, telephone or email to answer questions and provide information.
• Preserves the peace through crisis intervention and crowd control.
• Drafts and prepares reports; Testifies in court when required.
