Job summary

City of Claremore is seeking a Police Officer to maintain peace for the community by patrolling streets, enforcing laws and investigating city ordinances, state and federal statutes. This is a safety sensitive role subject to random drug testing.

CLEET certification and years of service influence raises, and a 10K sign-on bonus is offered for certified officers. Candidates must meet minimum qualifications, possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, and be able to work rotating shifts, holidays,

Qualifications

• CLEET certification preferred.
• Must be between 21-45 years old or previously been a participant of the OK police pension.
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License which has not been suspended or revoked in the past 5 years.
• Must not have been convicted of domestic abuse or be listed as defendant on a protective order.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony crime or have any pending criminal actions.

Responsibilities

• Operate a motor vehicle for routine patrol assignments and responding to the needs of the community.
• Enforce state and federal laws and City ordinances.
• Make arrests on criminal and traffic related offenses.
• Performs other duties as assigned, which include but are not limited to: investigation of crime scenes, preservation and collection of evidence, preparation of handwritten and typed reports, oral testimony in courts of law, investigation of traffic accidents, etc.

POLICE OFFICER

Department: Police

Salary: $50,772.40 - $64,988.99 depending on CLEET certification and years of service

• Upon graduating CLEET you will receive a 5% raise
• At one year of service you will receive a 5% raise
• Lateral transfers will be considered from other law enforcement agencies in or out of state with a maximum of five (5) credit years at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
• 10K sign on bonus for certified officers on a pre-determined pay structure

Job Summary

To maintain peace for City of Claremore by patrolling, enforcing and investigating city ordinances, State and Federal laws.

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing. Safety sensitive positions must comply to federal regulations where marijuana still remains illegal. Possession of a medical marijuana license does not exempt safety sensitive positions from federal regulations. Should one of these safety sensitive positions test positive on a drug test and lose the ability to perform within the job description outline, the City of Claremore will implement the zero tolerance policy resulting in immediate termination.

• Ability to operate two-way radios, vehicle and handheld types; radar equipment and Intoxilyzer equipment
• Ability to read, understand and interpret ordinances, laws and other operatingprocedures and communicate both orally and in writing
• Ability to drive a vehicle safely and efficiently while under stress and while communication on radio
• Ability to deal effectively with others in both stressful and routine day to day situations
