This position serves as a Police Officer at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. The officer performs a range of duties including law enforcement, security operations, patrols, control desk duties, and crime prevention activities.

Requirements
Qualifications: To qualify, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 Grade Level: Requires at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5, involving knowledge of laws, regulations, and law enforcement practices, and responsibilities for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
Specialized experience includes maintaining order, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and routine patrols. Experience as a security guard or corrections officer is generally not qualifying. All experience must be detailed in your resume, including job title, duties, dates, and hours worked per week.
Driver's License: Must possess a valid, unrestricted State driver's license, a safe driving record, and be medically qualified to operate a vehicle. A copy of the license is not required with the application but may be requested during the interview.
Firearm Requirement: Must carry agency-approved firearms on duty and maintain qualification/certification with them, complying with the Gun Control Act of 1968.
Conditions of Employment:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work, which will be credited if qualifying.
Physical Requirements: Involves physical activities such as standing, walking, driving, bending, and possibly lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work Conditions: Involves moderate to high risks, exposure to adverse weather, and hazardous materials. Safety precautions and protective equipment are required.
