City of Hamilton Police Officer Recruitment

The Hamilton Police Department is currently recruiting Police Officers. All testing through the National Testing Network (NTN) must be completed by Saturday, May 31, 2025. The NTN exam will serve as the civil service exam. Applicants are responsible for scheduling and taking the NTN test before the deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet at least one of the following:

• Possess Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification; or
• Have been employed as a certified police officer for less than two years at an Ohio police agency; or
• Be a current active police academy student.

Note: If you are OPOTA certified and currently employed at an Ohio police agency for two or more years, please apply under the Police Officer (Lateral Transfers) section here.

Testing Instructions

To take the NTN test:

1. Visit https://nationaltestingnetwork.com/publicsafetyjobs/
2. Under 'Find Jobs', click on 'Law Enforcement Jobs'
3. Scroll down to 'Ohio' and select the City of Hamilton
4. Check the box next to the posting
5. Click the red 'Continue' button on the left side of the screen
6. Follow the website instructions to complete the process.

Note: If you have taken the NTN test within the past year (since May 1, 2024), you can transfer your passing score to the City of Hamilton via the NTN website. If you previously submitted your score for a recruitment on or after May 1, 2024, email Brittany Chapman at [e-mail] to have your score resent.

Important Dates and Additional Steps

All testing must be completed before the application deadline. In case of a tied score, rank will be determined by the application submission time.

A passing score is required to proceed to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The recruitment process includes:
