The Police Compliance Officer plays a vital role in supporting the compliance efforts of the University Police Department at Texas A&M University. Under the general direction of the Administrative Sergeant, the Police Compliance Officer monitors, develops, facilitates, and ensures adherence to various federal, state, and university laws, policies, and regulations. This includes but is not limited to the Clery Act, National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements.
Position is full time and located on the Tarleton State University main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate which may include occasional after-hours and weekends required. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Note: This is a non-sworn position. The successful candidate must be able to work remotely as needed during inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
Clery Compliance (25%): Serve as the department’s Clery Act compliance officer and liaison to the University Compliance Office. Collect, manage, and compile required data for the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR).
NIBRS Reporting (20%): Act as liaison to the FBI for NIBRS crime data collection and submission.
TCOLE Training Compliance (20%): Track and maintain training records; coordinate with the department’s Training Officer to ensure all required certifications are completed.
Records Management System (15%): Serve as administrator for the department’s Report Management System (RMS), ensuring accurate and complete police reporting.
Records Clerk Backup (5%): Fill in as Records Clerk during absences.
Accreditation Support (5%): Assist with the Texas Police Chief’s Association (TPCA) accreditation process and file maintenance.
Inventory Oversight (5%): Manage and report departmental physical and equipment inventory for Risk Management.
Additional Duties (5%): Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of related experience in a law enforcement department environment, specifically in compliance programs and/or Police Records Management Systems (RMS).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and databases).
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience with FLEX RMS is preferred.
Additional Requirements
Must pass a fingerprint criminal history check and an in-depth background investigation.
Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) Certification upon hire.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $53,745 to $76,321 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
