Job Responsibilities
  • Receives, evaluates and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, including calls from other law enforcement agencies, requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services.
  • Communicates effectively with various callers to obtain pertinent information, assesses call nature, and determines appropriate call response.
  • Answers routine inquiries and refers calls not requiring dispatch to the appropriate departments.
  • Operates a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems; dispatches personnel via radio per procedures; maintains radio contact and updates status/location of units.
  • Monitors fire, burglar, water, temperature and door alarm signals; monitors video systems for suspicious activity and dispatches accordingly; handles calls from emergency call boxes and Rave Guardian App.
  • Inputs, updates, requests, transmits and queries information from CAD, alarm systems, university databases, and NCIC.
  • Exhibits safety and security sensitivity in all duties.
