Job Description - POLICE COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR (2500006M)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore Department of Police and Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a Police Communications Supervisor. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the supervision and operation of the UMB Police Communications Center.

Primary Duties:
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Four (4) years as a Police Communications Operator.
Preferred Experience: Experience as a Lead and/or Supervisory Police Telecommunicator/dispatcher or equivalent title with a federal, state, county, college/university, or municipal Police organization preferred.
Other: Certification to operate a National Criminal Information Center (NCIC).
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of emergency communications practices and procedures. Skill in the operation of assigned communications equipment including telephones, voice recorder, computer terminal and input keyboard, radio transmitter, and teletypewriter; in summarizing and relaying information; in the use of keyboards and office equipment. Ability to analyze a variety of communication problems and make technical and procedural recommendations for their resolution; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to coordinate activities of several sections involved in emergency call and dispatch functions; to maintain records and prepare written reports; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to supervise and train assigned staff; to remain calm under pressure and function effectively in situations involving stress and uncertainty.

Employees in this job class must maintain certification for NCIC operation.
Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).
HIRING RANGE: $67,317.07 - $71,219.51, commensurate with education and experience.
