City of Battle Creek is seeking a Cadet Program participant to support department and community initiatives focusing on youth, crime prevention, and community education. The role involves working closely with the Patrol and Investigations Divisions and liaising with juvenile authorities.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, supporting training, and ensuring safety protocols are followed, while the cadet participates in community meetings and upholds confidentiality of information.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED is required.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assists in department and community programs, especially youth, crime prevention, education and security premise surveys.
• Maintains files and records.
• Provides assistance to Patrol and Investigations Divisions in processing juveniles.
• Maintains relations with juvenile authorities and other agencies.
• Reports unusual problems or violent behavior while supervising juveniles.
• Counsels and coaches to enhance police/youth relations.
• Ensure seat belt use for passengers.
• Liaises with supervisor to develop Cadet Program strategies.
• Maintains communication with supervisor while on duty.
• Follows City Administrative Code and departmental rules and procedures.
• Maintains equipment and ensures proper working order.
• Participates in training programs.
• Attends community meetings.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.
