Job summary

The Auburn Hills Police Department is recruiting a part-time, non-sworn Police Cadet to support the Support Services Division. Cadets gain exposure to police work through Community Policing and Problem Oriented Policing while assisting at the front desk to maintain 24/7 service.

Preferred candidates are high school graduates or GED holders enrolled in criminal justice studies, with a valid driver’s license and solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and currently enrolled in a criminal justice program or related field of study; preapproval required for other programs
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
• Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern police practices and procedures
• Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; handle stressful situations
