The City of Battle Creek is hiring Police Recruits (sponsored) for the January 2027 Police Academy. This role is for non-certified applicants seeking sponsorship through the academy and advancement to entry-level police officer after graduation.
Applicants must meet age, education, and eligibility requirements, and successfully complete the academy and field training officer program. A $5,000 hiring bonus is offered and interviews depend on documentation submission.

All required documentation must be completed & submitted in order to be considered for an interview.
The Police Recruit is for non-certified applicants who are looking for sponsorship through a police academy. Candidates who are hired will be sent to the Kellogg Community College Police Academy, or other Department-authorized police academy. Upon successful completion of this academy, the Recruit will be promoted to entry-level police officer and must also successfully complete the Battle Creek Police Department's field training officer program.
The Battle Creek Police Officer protects and serves the citizens and communities of the City of Battle Creek. Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of duties involving the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; controls traffic flow and enforces state and local traffic regulations; issues citations; participates in and conducts a variety of criminal investigations; makes arrests; provides support and assistance to special crime prevention and law enforcement programs; and performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities.
