Job summary

City of Minneapolis seeks Police Officer candidates to serve residents, businesses and visitors with integrity and sound judgment. This full-time, on-site position requires passing POST licensing, background checks, and medical and drug testing as part of a multi-step selection process.

Officers participate in orientation, a three-month Field Training Officer program, and ongoing training. Must have a law enforcement or criminal justice degree and valid Minnesota POST license, with required

Qualifications

• Completion of a two or four year Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice Degree through a Professional Peace Officer Education Program and pass the P.O.S.T Licensing Exam or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and Minnesota POST license or ability to obtain prior to hire.
• Minimum of one year of full-time sworn law enforcement experience and one year of patrol experience.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned area to enforce laws, detect and prevent crime and protect life and property.
• Apprehend and arrest violators and prepare written reports for prosecution.
• Draft and execute arrest/search warrants and conduct follow-up investigations.
• Conduct surveillance and provide undercover operations.
• Interview witnesses, victims and suspects and testify in court.
