Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Minnesota driver's license.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Currently enrolled in or accepted into a two-year law enforcement program.
• Must begin full-time college attendance upon hire and maintain a minimum GPA.

Responsibilities

• Enforce ordinances and statutes pertaining to animals, animal control, parking, and health/nuisance ordinances.
• Perform detention duties including booking, searching, controlling and releasing prisoners.
• Provide traffic control or perimeter security as assigned.
• Assist sworn staff and ensure vehicles are ready for shift use.
• Deliver vehicles for service and maintain department facilities.
• Prepare and submit accurate reports and paperwork.
• Draft minor police reports and issue summons when applicable.
• Assist in recovering and inventorying lost or confiscated property and support community outreach.
