Job summary

Bay Area Rapid Transit is seeking an experienced Manager of Accreditation within the BART Police Department. The role leads the accreditation program, ensuring CALEA standards are met and guiding organizational readiness and compliance.

The successful candidate will manage accreditation activities, supervise staff, and provide ongoing training while collaborating with executive leadership and external agencies to continuously improve departmental practices and public safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Public Administration or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of full-time verifiable professional experience in Law Enforcement including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Other Requirements: Able to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Substitution: Additional professional experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees the operations and activities of the District’s Police Department accreditation program.
  • Serve as an expert in CALEA accreditation reviews and ensure compliance with CALEA standards.
  • Coordinates complex issues relating to department practices and CALEA standards.
  • Supervise staff, approve leave requests and adjust schedules for coverage.
  • Provide accreditation training and guidance to personnel; report on progress.
  • Develop relationships with the community and external agencies.
