Job summary

United Utility Services in the United States is hiring a Utility Pole Inspection & Treatment Crewman to support field crews inspecting wood poles, performing groundline work, and documenting results for transmission and distribution programs. This safety-focused, field-intensive role offers outdoor work, potential regional travel, and a path to becoming a pole inspector or crew foreman.

You will work with Inspectors, Foremen, and the Supervisor, using tablets and GPS tools while following

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; outdoor field experience beneficial but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company motor-vehicle requirements.
  • Ability to perform repetitive outdoor physical work, follow procedures, and use hand tools safely.
  • Comfort using smartphones, tablets, and mobile data-collection applications.
  • Willingness to complete required training for pole inspection, treatment, and data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspection, site prep, excavation, backfill, restoration, and cleanup around wood utility poles.
  • Assist qualified personnel with sounding, boring, measurements, preservative treatment, tagging, and pole-life-extension tasks.
  • Use tablets, GPS devices, photographs, and digital forms to collect and document pole-level data.
  • Maintain crew tools, treatment materials, PPE, and assigned vehicle/work areas safe and organized.
  • Follow product labels, SDS, environmental requirements, and company procedures for handling materials.
  • Participate in daily job briefings/JHAs and comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow 811/One Call and ground-disturbance requirements and address unsafe conditions.
  • Work with Inspectors, Foremen, and the Supervisor to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
