MaxAI is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Biller and Coder for the Podiatry Department to manage billing, ensure accurate coding, and facilitate timely payments from insurers and patients.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in podiatry coding and billing, with strong knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and experience with EHRs and billing systems. HIPAA compliance and audit readiness are valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of podiatry coding and billing experience (mid-level to senior).
• Strong knowledge of podiatry terminology, DRG, ICD-10/ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS.
• Experience with medical records management and reimbursement processes.
• Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
• Excellent communication with healthcare staff, insurers, and patients.
• Proficiency in using EHRs and billing systems; HIPAA compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Process podiatry billing claims using ICD-10/ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS for podiatric procedures.
• Review records to ensure complete information for billing purposes.
• Verify insurance coverage prior to claim submission for proper reimbursement.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and conduct medical collections as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of billing transactions and communications.
• Collaborate with providers to resolve billing/coding discrepancies.
• Stay updated on billing regulations, coding practices, and payer policies.
• Utilize medical office systems to manage billing and protect patient confidentiality.
• Prepare for payer audits and respond appropriately.
• Track KPIs like denial rates and days in accounts receivable.
• Support contract negotiations and manage podiatry-specific denials/appeals.
